Modest Growth Signals a Soft Landing for Canada’s Economy

The Canadian economy is on track to avoid back-to-back quarterly contractions, with early data pointing to a slight rebound toward the end of the year, suggesting a possibility of a soft landing.

Preliminary data suggest gross domestic product expanded 0.1% in November, as increases in the manufacturing and agriculture sectors were partially offset by decreases in retail trade, Statistics Canada reported Friday in Ottawa.
