ADCB Launches Meedaf to Transform Financial Services Operations Across the GCC

Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank has unveiled Meedaf, an ADGM-licensed financial services venture designed to help banks across the GCC modernise their cash management and ATM operations.

The platform focuses on digitising the operational processes that underpin physical cash handling and ATM networks, areas that have received less technology investment than customer-facing digital banking despite representing significant cost centres for banks. Meedaf will operate through strategic joint ventures with financial institutions across the Gulf.

ADCB said Meedaf addresses a practical challenge: while banks have invested heavily in digital channels, they continue to operate extensive ATM networks and cash handling infrastructure that rely on manual, labour-intensive processes. Digitising these operations can reduce costs, improve efficiency, and provide better data on cash usage patterns.

The venture is licensed by the Abu Dhabi Global Market, the emirate's international financial centre, giving it a regulatory framework suited to serving clients across multiple GCC jurisdictions. The ADGM licence provides the flexibility to structure partnerships and joint ventures with banks in different Gulf markets.

Meedaf's joint venture model allows partner banks to benefit from specialised operational capabilities without building them independently. Each bank retains control over its customer relationships and branding while accessing Meedaf's technology and operational expertise for back-office cash management functions.

The launch positions ADCB as not just a bank deploying technology for its own operations but as a provider of financial services infrastructure to other institutions, a strategic diversification that could generate fee income beyond traditional banking activities.
