Bank Muscat and Meethaq Showcase Digital Banking Innovations

Bank Muscat and its Islamic banking window Meethaq have showcased their latest digital banking innovations at the COMEX 2024 technology exhibition in Oman.

The showcase highlighted advanced mobile banking features and self-service digital kiosks designed to reduce branch dependency and give customers greater control over their banking activities. Bank Muscat demonstrated enhancements to its mobile app, including improved transaction capabilities, personalised financial insights, and streamlined account management tools.

The self-service kiosks represent Bank Muscat's investment in hybrid service delivery, providing customers with the ability to complete banking tasks that traditionally required branch visits. The kiosks support account opening, card issuance, and document submission, bridging the gap between fully digital and traditional in-branch services.

Meethaq, which operates as Bank Muscat's Sharia-compliant banking division, also presented its digital enhancements, demonstrating that Islamic banking products can be delivered through the same modern digital channels as conventional banking services.

COMEX is Oman's largest technology exhibition and a key platform for the country's major institutions to demonstrate their digital capabilities. Bank Muscat's prominent presence at the event underscored its commitment to technology-driven banking in a market where digital adoption has been accelerating.

As Oman's largest bank by assets, Bank Muscat's digital investments set the pace for the broader sector. The bank has been progressively shifting customer interactions toward digital channels, reporting growing mobile banking transaction volumes and declining branch footfall as customers adopt self-service options.
