The best fintech partnerships solve problems that neither party could address alone. Banque Saudi Fransi proved this in February 2025 through its collaboration with Deben, a specialist in AI-powered financial reconciliation, creating the first platform of its kind in the region.
Reconciliation - the process of matching transactions across multiple systems and ledgers - is one of banking's most labour-intensive operations. It is also one of the most error-prone. BSF and Deben developed an AI-powered platform that automates the matching process, identifies discrepancies in real time, and dramatically reduces the manual effort traditionally required.
The platform was the first AI-driven reconciliation system deployed by a bank in the Middle East, and the achievement did not go unnoticed. BSF and Deben's partnership won a Global Finance Top Innovation award, recognising both the technical sophistication and the practical impact of the solution.
What made this partnership effective was the complementary strengths each party brought. BSF contributed deep knowledge of banking operations, regulatory requirements, and the specific reconciliation challenges faced by institutions in the Saudi market. Deben provided the AI and machine learning expertise needed to build a system capable of handling the volume and complexity of a major bank's transaction flows.
The results were tangible. Processing times dropped significantly, error rates fell, and the operations team was freed to focus on exception handling rather than routine matching. For a bank processing millions of transactions, these improvements compound into meaningful cost savings and risk reduction.
We selected BSF for this award because the partnership exemplifies what fintech collaboration should look like. Too many bank-fintech relationships remain superficial - a press release, a pilot, and little else. BSF and Deben built something that went into production, won international recognition, and delivered measurable operational improvements.
