First Abu Dhabi Bank and Mastercard have partnered to launch a mobile-first virtual card number solution for businesses, transforming corporate expense management and B2B payment efficiency in the UAE.
The virtual corporate card product enables FAB's business clients to issue virtual card numbers through a mobile platform, providing employees with instant access to company payment instruments for business expenses. Each virtual card can be configured with specific spending limits, merchant categories, and validity periods, giving finance teams granular control over corporate spending.
The mobile-first approach distinguishes the product from traditional corporate card programmes, which typically rely on physical cards and manual expense reporting processes. FAB's solution allows businesses to issue, manage, and monitor virtual cards entirely through a mobile interface, streamlining the administration of corporate payment programmes.
Mastercard's network provides the global acceptance infrastructure for the virtual cards, ensuring they can be used at Mastercard-accepting merchants worldwide for both online and contactless in-store payments. The virtual cards use tokenisation technology to protect card details during transactions.
The product targets the growing demand among UAE businesses for digital-first expense management tools that reduce administrative overhead while improving spending visibility and control. Virtual cards eliminate the risks associated with physical corporate cards, including loss, theft, and unauthorised use.
The partnership builds on FAB and Mastercard's existing relationship and adds a corporate payments dimension to their collaboration in the UAE market.
