UAE-based B2B fintech solutions provider FOO has been named as the technology partner behind OMPAY, a new digital wallet launched in Oman under a licence from the Central Bank of Oman and backed by national telco Omantel.

Announced on 13 April 2026, the partnership sees OMPAY's consumer and SME-facing wallet built on FOO's digital wallet platform and microservices architecture, combining a regulated fintech front-end with FOO's production-grade infrastructure.

A full-stack wallet for Oman

The OMPAY wallet supports peer-to-peer payments, peer-to-merchant transactions, QR-based and contactless payments, instant virtual card issuance, and international remittances to more than 200 countries. The app is available across Android, Apple and Huawei app stores from launch.

Sami Elloumi, CEO of OMPAY, said: "OMPAY is committed to continuously evolving the way individuals and businesses manage their finances." He added: "This collaboration enables us to continuously innovate and expand our offering in line with evolving user needs."

Ghady Rayess, CEO of FOO, commented: "We are proud to partner with OMPAY in delivering a future-ready digital wallet that supports Oman's vision for a more digital and inclusive financial ecosystem."

Another move in Oman's digital push

The launch adds to a growing list of digital finance milestones in Oman, following BankDhofar's Dhofar-Pay NFC service and steady expansion of mobile payment acceptance across the Sultanate. With Central Bank of Oman backing and Omantel as a shareholder, OMPAY arrives with meaningful distribution muscle - and the choice of an established regional tech partner in FOO should help with speed-to-market.

For FOO, the deal continues a run of GCC wallet deployments and reinforces the UAE firm's position as one of the region's go-to white-label digital banking platforms.
