Geidea, a UAE-licensed fintech company, has entered a strategic partnership with Mastercard to accelerate digital payment adoption among small and medium-sized enterprises in the UAE.
The agreement, signed at Abu Dhabi Global Market during Abu Dhabi Finance Week, will see Geidea leverage Mastercard Gateway technology to offer comprehensive payment acceptance solutions to UAE SMEs. The partnership combines Geidea's merchant acquiring capabilities and local market presence with Mastercard's global payment network and technology infrastructure.
The collaboration targets the substantial SME segment in the UAE, where many businesses have yet to adopt digital payment acceptance or are using basic solutions that limit their ability to serve customers across multiple channels. Geidea and Mastercard aim to provide these businesses with modern payment acceptance that covers in-store, online, and mobile commerce.
Mastercard Gateway, which processes transactions in more than 35 payment methods, provides the technology backbone for the partnership. The platform gives SME merchants a single integration point for accepting diverse payment types, reducing the complexity that has historically deterred smaller businesses from offering multiple payment options.
Both companies framed the partnership as supporting the UAE's cashless economy objectives. The country has set ambitious targets for increasing digital payment penetration, and SME adoption remains one of the key areas where progress is needed to achieve these goals.
Geidea has established itself as one of the largest payment technology companies in the Middle East, with a merchant network spanning multiple Gulf markets. The Mastercard partnership strengthens its position as a primary payment infrastructure provider for UAE businesses.
