Mashreq has officially launched its full-service digital retail bank in Pakistan, marking the first international deployment of its NEO digital banking platform and expanding its operations beyond the UAE.
The commercial launch follows Mashreq NEO's earlier beta introduction in Pakistan, during which the bank tested its Islamic-first digital banking proposition with selected users. The full launch opens the platform to the broader Pakistani market, offering Sharia-compliant banking products through a mobile-first experience.
Mashreq said the Pakistan deployment leverages advanced data analytics and AI to drive financial inclusion in a market with over 230 million people and banking penetration among the lowest in the region. The digital platform eliminates the branch infrastructure costs that have historically limited banking access in Pakistan's smaller cities and rural areas.
The launch represents a significant milestone for Mashreq's international expansion strategy, demonstrating that its NEO digital platform can be deployed in new markets with different regulatory environments and customer demographics. The Pakistan market tests the bank's ability to serve a mass-market audience that is significantly different from its UAE customer base.
Pakistan's digital banking market has been growing rapidly, with regulators encouraging digital-first entrants that can expand financial services access. Mashreq's combination of an established banking brand, Sharia-compliant products, and modern digital technology positions it competitively against both local banks and other digital entrants.
The bank said it plans to expand its Pakistani product range progressively as the customer base grows.
