Oman Arab Bank has announced a significant upgrade to its Interactive Teller Machine and ATM network, rolling out expanded digital self-service capabilities across the Sultanate.

The enhanced machines offer a broader range of banking services beyond cash dispensing, including account management, cheque deposits, and customer service interactions via video banking. The Interactive Teller Machines enable customers to connect with bank staff through video for more complex transactions that cannot be handled by a standard ATM.

OAB said the expansion reduces reliance on physical branch visits and extends banking access to underserved areas where maintaining full-service branches is not economically viable. The self-service machines can be deployed in locations including shopping centres, government buildings, and residential areas, bringing banking services closer to where customers live and work.

The video banking capability through ITMs bridges the gap between self-service ATMs and full branch services. Customers can use the video connection to complete transactions that require human assistance, such as account enquiries, dispute resolution, and product applications, without travelling to a branch.

The upgrade builds on OAB's broader digital banking strategy, which has included the launch of a corporate mobile banking platform and a next-generation digital payments partnership with Arab Financial Services. The ATM and ITM expansion extends the bank's digital reach into physical locations across Oman.

The initiative supports Oman's financial inclusion objectives by providing banking access to populations in areas with limited branch coverage.
