QNB Introduces Cutting-Edge Digital Onboarding Service for New Customers

QNB has launched a new digital account opening service through its mobile banking app, enabling prospective customers to open accounts remotely without visiting a branch.

The service uses digital identity verification technology to authenticate new customers, allowing them to complete the entire onboarding process from their mobile device. QNB said the system supports document scanning, biometric verification, and electronic signature capture, meeting regulatory know-your-customer requirements through a fully digital workflow.

The launch targets a growing segment of banking customers who expect to interact with their financial institution entirely through digital channels. By removing the branch visit requirement for account opening, QNB aims to reduce customer acquisition costs while expanding its reach beyond the geographic constraints of its physical network.

Digital onboarding has become a competitive priority for banks across the Gulf, where regulators have progressively updated frameworks to permit remote customer identification and verification. QNB's implementation adds to a growing list of regional banks offering end-to-end digital account opening, a capability that was largely unavailable in the market just a few years ago.

The bank said the digital onboarding process significantly reduces the time required to open an account compared to traditional branch-based methods. QNB Group, headquartered in Qatar, is the largest financial institution in the Middle East and Africa by assets, and has been investing in digital capabilities across its operations spanning more than 30 countries.
