At Global Banking Monitor, we've been tracking the rollout of instant payment networks across the Gulf, and QNB's integration of Request for Payment into its mobile banking app represents one of the most customer-friendly implementations we've seen. Launched in October 2024, the service allows customers to instantly request and receive payments from others - eliminating the friction of sharing bank details or chasing transfers.

The significance of this lies in the platform. Fawran is Qatar's national instant payment infrastructure, and by building RFP natively into its mobile app, QNB has made a national-level capability feel like a personal banking feature. The integration is seamless enough that customers may not even realise they're using national payment rails.

QNB, already the largest bank in the Middle East and Africa by assets, continues to set the pace for digital innovation in Qatar. We congratulate the team on this well-executed integration.
