Corporate and retail finance specialist Reem Finance has selected Temenos to power a new digital community bank in the UAE, deploying the core banking platform's payments and data analytics capabilities to deliver faster and more flexible banking services.
The new entity will use Temenos's cloud-native technology to build a digital-first banking experience from the ground up, without the legacy system constraints that often limit established banks. Reem Finance said the digital community bank will focus on serving underbanked segments of the UAE market with accessible, streamlined financial products.
The community banking concept targets populations that may be underserved by the UAE's existing banking landscape, including lower-income residents, small businesses, and specific demographic groups that find traditional banking products unsuitable for their needs. By launching as a digital-first operation, the new bank aims to keep costs low enough to serve these segments profitably.
Temenos's platform provides the core banking processing, payment capabilities, and analytics tools needed to operate a full-service bank. The technology's modular architecture allows the new bank to launch with essential services and add capabilities progressively as its customer base grows.
The deal adds to Temenos's growing roster of UAE clients and demonstrates continued appetite for new banking licences in the Emirates. The UAE Central Bank has been receptive to applications from digital-first banking entrants that serve distinct market segments, and Reem Finance's community banking proposition appears designed to complement rather than compete directly with existing digital banks.
