Round Launches Automated Supplier Payments Platform Connecting Treasury and AP
Treasury management platform Round has launched what it describes as the first "Treasury Aware" supplier payments workflow, designed to connect cash management with accounts payable in a single automated system.
The product, backed by Notion and Passion Capital—investors behind Monzo, GoCardless, and Tide—addresses inefficiencies that arise when treasury and AP functions operate in separate systems.
According to Round, £597 billion currently sits in UK business deposits, with £149 billion of SME cash earning no interest. The company argues that businesses lose significant value because their cash management and payment execution remain disconnected.
Automated Workflow
Round's supplier payments solution allows finance teams to approve an invoice once, with the platform then handling funding, timing, execution, and reconciliation automatically. The system is designed to keep cash earning interest until the precise moment a supplier payment is due.
The approach aims to eliminate manual processes that typically require finance teams to coordinate between treasury systems, banking platforms, and accounting software when making supplier payments.
Market Context
The launch targets modern finance teams looking to optimise working capital without adding operational complexity. By integrating treasury visibility with payment execution, Round enables businesses to maintain yield on deposits while ensuring suppliers are paid on schedule.
The platform is designed for UK businesses seeking to maximise returns on idle cash while automating routine accounts payable workflows.
