Splitit Launches White-Label World Mastercard for Mid-Sized Banks and Credit Unions
Splitit, the installment payments platform, has announced the upcoming launch of the Splitit World Mastercard, a white-label credit card built for mid-sized banks, credit unions and other financial institutions to issue under their own brand.
How the card works
Everyday purchases can be paid in full within 30 days. Cardholders set a spending threshold in the app, and purchases above that amount are automatically split into predictable monthly payments. Splitit's example is a morning coffee that stays under the threshold, while a new laptop converts into installments. Cardholders can switch a purchase back to pay-in-full, or adjust the plan in the app, before their statement is due.
Splitit provides the installment technology and an AI-enabled mobile experience that banks can embed in their own app, while the financial institution keeps its brand, customer relationship and distribution. The card runs on Mastercard's payments infrastructure and acceptance network, with protections including tokenisation, dispute resolution and Zero Liability Protection.
Aimed at mid-sized lenders
Splitit says the offering lets smaller and mid-sized banks expand their lending and payment products within their existing customer experience, as they compete for a greater share of everyday spending. The Splitit World Mastercard is expected to be available to financial institutions in early 2027.
Nandan Sheth, CEO of Splitit, said: "Banks already have the relationship, the brand and the primary account. What many of them lack is a way to offer installment plans at the point of purchase without having to build a lending business from scratch. Our white-label card gives them that, under their own name."
