Tarabut, the Middle East's largest open banking platform, has signed a landmark partnership with BENEFIT, Bahrain's national electronic network and fintech company, to integrate open banking infrastructure into the kingdom's financial ecosystem.
The partnership enables consumers and businesses in Bahrain to securely share their financial data with authorised third-party providers through standardised APIs. BENEFIT will serve as the primary open banking authenticator in Bahrain, handling the consent and verification process when customers choose to share their banking data with fintech applications and services.
The integration lays the groundwork for a range of new financial products and services in Bahrain, from account aggregation apps that give consumers a unified view of their finances across multiple banks, to automated lending decisions based on real-time transaction data. Open banking also enables payment initiation services, allowing fintechs to trigger bank transfers directly without routing through card networks.
Bahrain has been among the most proactive regulators in the Gulf when it comes to open banking, with the Central Bank of Bahrain establishing a regulatory framework that encourages data sharing while protecting consumer rights. The Tarabut-BENEFIT partnership represents the practical implementation of that framework at national scale.
For Tarabut, which operates across multiple MENA markets, the deal strengthens its position in one of the region's most progressive fintech environments. BENEFIT's role as national infrastructure provider gives the partnership immediate reach across Bahrain's entire banking sector.
