Tether Reportedly Chasing 500 Billion Dollar Valuation

Tether, the issuer of the world's largest stablecoin USDT, is reportedly pursuing a valuation of $500 billion as the company looks to capitalise on the explosive growth in stablecoin adoption. The staggering target would make Tether one of the most valuable financial companies in the world.

Tether has generated enormous profits from its business model of holding US Treasury bonds and other reserves against USDT tokens in circulation. The company reportedly generated over $13 billion in profit in 2024, making it one of the most profitable companies in financial services relative to its headcount.

The ambitious valuation target reflects both Tether's extraordinary profitability and the broader momentum behind stablecoins as a payment mechanism, with total stablecoin transaction volumes now rivalling those of major traditional payment networks.
